Chesterfield would ‘seriously consider’ move for young Everton goalkeeper again

Chesterfield would probably ‘seriously consider’ bringing Harry Tyrer back to the club again next season.

Midweek against Barnet saw the 22-year-old, who is on a season-long loan from Everton, achieve his tenth clean sheet.

Tyrer’s contract at his childhood Toffees runs until the summer of 2025, and he has been there since he was seven years old.

He impressed on loan at Chester last season and he is a fan favourite at the Spireites this year.

A return to the Spireites would seem to be the most logical next step in Chesterfield’s career if they are in League Two the following season, but that would require everyone’s consent.

Coach Danny Webb responded to the DT when asked if any discussions had taken place yet: “No, not at all.”

“It’s clear that Everton holds him in the highest regard.

“I believe we will evaluate all of those items at the conclusion of the season. Although we are aware that life is not always easy, we nevertheless want to win the league and want to do so as quickly as possible.

“For us, Harry Tyrer has been outstanding. Without speaking for him, I’m confident the gaffer would give having Harry back a serious thought the following year. Conversations of that nature will have to wait.

“Harry and Ryan Boot will need to continue their battle in the interim. Ryan has not played as much as Harry, but things can change soon. Harry is aware that Ryan is observing him closely.
