Derek Ferguson responds as a fresh windfall development at Ibrox for the Rangers

Derek Ferguson believes Rangers will be getting a fair bargain if they wind up with a £1.2 million profit following Malik Tillman’s permanent move from Bayern Munich to PSV Eindhoven.

Tillman is expected to sign a permanent £12 million contract with PSV from Bayern Munich in the summer, according to a report published by The Rangers Review on February 21.

The former Gers loanee admitted he may make the permanent switch, which would provide the Bears a 10% profit from any fee, in statements obtained by the Daily Record [21 February].

Speaking only to Ibrox News, Ferguson emphasised that the team obtained the best possible outcome for Tilman, a player he refers to as “talented.”

To be honest with you, it’s been a nice deal that one, so of course any money coming in is wonderful news.

He’s a talented lad, and I used to try and tell some of the supporters that he’s still a young player who is still learning the game. We tend to overlook that. He’s a good player, that much is obvious. That’s why many Rangers fans wanted him at the club.

“He’s only 20/21, so he has a lot of progress to come from him, but we can be a little harsh at times up here.” It’s a wise decision for the young man; nice days, little money in.

What portion of the Malik Tillman transfer deal will go to the Rangers?

Tillman’s potential move to Ibrox was thwarted by an agreement between Rangers and Bayern Munich, and as a result, the club will earn 10% of any future transfer fees. If his move to PSV goes through as planned, that money will be coming soon.

Ferguson is right when he praises the former Rangers star; he was a gifted player, and many supporters were sad when he didn’t return after his loan term. Still, considering the circumstances, the club has performed as well as it could have.

It won’t hurt anything to bring in an extra £1.2 million, which could be used to add to any prospective summer transfer purse or to balance the books at Ibrox.

Thoughts about Tillman’s future at PSV and the implications for the Glasgow club have been swirling, it looks like we are getting closer to that seven-figure boost.
