“It doesn’t make any sense for him” – Southampton move for Reading FC star questioned.

This post is part of Football League World’s ‘Terrace Talk’ series, which features unique perspectives from our FLW Fan Pundits on the most recent breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings, and more.

. Andre Garcia, a Reading FC defender, has been warned that a move to Southampton “doesn’t make any sense” despite claims that the Saints want to sign him.

Garcia, 17, has enjoyed a breakout season at Reading, making 25 appearances in all competitions and prompting interest from Premier League club Southampton. Hunt said following the Royals’ defeat to Leyton Orient on Saturday that Southampton are interested in Garcia, but the valuation has yet to be met. According to Fabrizio Romano, Southampton has made a £2 million proposal to recruit the left-back, but Reading appears to be holding out for a higher amount if they are to part ways with Garcia this month.

Reading urged to keep Andre Garcia at the club this month

We asked our Reading fan commentator, Johnny Hunt, what his opinions were after it was revealed that Southampton were interested in Garcia, and how much Reading should be asking for if they move him this month. Johnny told Football League World: “It’s a difficult one. Obviously, Noel Hunt has stated that they have received an offer, and it is nowhere near the valuation. I’m guessing they’re looking at roughly £4 million. “I believe Brian Carey, who is in charge of transfers, understands what he is doing, and we will not be pushed around to make foolish sales on the cheap, as we have in the past with Michael Olise, Omar Richards, and Tom Holmes.

“I believe that with a week left in the transfer window, we will not need to sell him. Hopefully, we won’t have to pay taxes or wages by selling players, and hopefully, that has been sourced till the new owners arrive; when that happens is the million-dollar question. “It’s a hard one. We would obviously want to keep a young player like him, and if he went to Southampton, he would not be playing, so while it may look fantastic to play for a Premier League side that would most likely be relegated back to the Championship, it makes no football sense for him.
