His loan to Everton has been a complete bust, much like the rest of his career since he was a sensation at Vitesse and Southampton. He arrived hurt, recovered, then got hurt again with a potentially season-ending injury, and now they (naturally) want to get rid of him. However, it won’t be that easy; they obviously don’t have a unilateral termination clause, or else they would have activated it by now. Instead, it will be up to Chelsea to negotiate how to handle this difficult situation.
According to the Athletic’s transfer deal document, the Blues will only re-sign their striker if they are able to loan out a replacement to the Toffees. Ben Chilwell, Carney Chukwuemeka, and Kiernan-Dewsbury Hall are all listed as “potential players of interest.”
After replacing Sean Dyche as manager, David Moyes is already working to move his former team up the league. We believe that any one of those three could do a good job of supporting him and earning some much-needed playing time. All that needs to be done is make the numbers add up.
