Leicester City now eyeing move for “exceptional” manager to replace Cooper

According to reports, Leicester City is reportedly considering a move to appoint a new manager

who is “exceptional” in order to replace Steve Cooper and keep the team from going down.

Leicester lose again

With a 2-1 loss to Chelsea, Leicester City moved closer to the relegation zone for the third time in

five Premier League games. At times during their Saturday lunchtime loss, boos echoed throughout

King Power Stadium, as Cooper’s playing approach came under growing criticism as the Foxes

provided little forward attack for the most of the match.

Their terrible performance against former boss Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea team was highlighted by

the fact that they only mustered four shots overall, one on goal during the match, and a penalty in

the 94th minute.

“It turned out to be that challenge and is among the hardest games played so far this season.

Cooper noted, “The first half was difficult, and with all of the defending we had to do, we ended up

giving away a really soft goal.” He then reserved particular criticism for the refereeing performance

that was on display.

“This referee has been a huge letdown for us this year. We’ve played him three or four times, and

each time hasn’t been the best. It went on today.

That performance was the last thing [referees’ bodies] required by PGMOL. He blew up a couple of

advantages overall and made some very poor decisions.

However, Leicester would have been lucky to secure a draw even with favourable refereeing calls,

and the outcome puts them on just 10 points from 12 games, which has caused the Foxes

management to pause and reflect.

Leicester now target ex-Premier League boss

According to Spanish media, Leicester is already considering Cooper’s replacements as the Foxes

have a beneficial schedule coming up.

David Moyes, a former coach of West Ham, Manchester United, and Everton who has been

unemployed since his tenure with the Hammers ended during the summer, is one of the persons

they are thinking about pursuing.

The Scot, who has six career victories against Leicester City in 14 attempts, “has proven his ability

to manage teams in difficult situations,” according to the report. His preferred 4-2-3-1 system is

also similar to what Cooper is currently using, which suggests that the players won’t have a hard

time adjusting to their new manager.

Although there is no stated timeline for when a decision over Cooper’s future may be made, Moyes

is still unemployed and may be eager to rejoin the Premier League, where he has overseen nearly

700 games.

Mikel Arteta, who played under the Scot at Everton, called him an “exceptional” coach prior to the

teams’ match last season, demonstrating how well-liked the Scot is by his fellow managers.

“When he was my manager, I would break through a brick wall for him. Everyone on that squad, I

believe. “He is a very special person, a really special human being, and he is exceptional at

managing the group and dealing with individuals.”

Would he be the one to protect the Foxes’ Premier League spot?
