West Brom handed boost in reported £1.7m transfer race with Preston North End for ex-Everton man

The former Everton player moved to Belgium in 2023, and after Preston North End reportedly shown interest, West

Brom is poised to sign Isaac Price, a midfielder for Standard Liege.

Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri said last week that the Lilywhites were interested in the 21-year-old, but the

rumours were later downplayed. Price was reportedly a player PNE considered during the summer transfer window.

However, manager Paul Heckingbottom made it apparent that more business was unlikely after bringing in Jayden

Meghoma on loan from Brentford this week. Furthermore, it would have been surprising to see another seven-figure

swoop after Lewis Gibson reportedly cost North End over £1.5 million this month.

Price is now reportedly committed to Albion, as it has been believed that the former Everton player has reached a
personal agreement before joining the Hawthorns. Price might be West Brom’s first hire under Tony Mowbray, who
was named manager for the second time this week.

Before departing in the summer of 2023, the Northern Ireland international played in two Premier League games for

the Toffees. Since then, he has made more than 60 appearances and scored one goal for the Belgian team. When he

scored a hat-trick for his nation in mid-October, Price made headlines.

Stefan Thordarson, an Icelander, was acquired by Preston during the summer transfer window for an estimated

£800,000. Although North End currently has plenty of midfield players, they have been connected to a few players

in recent weeks.

Two midfielders who have been mentioned in the media as possible PNE targets are Luke Cundle of Wolves and

Adam Phillips of Barnsley. Both Duane Holmes and Ryan Ledson have six months left on their Deepdale contracts.
