Everton is ‘open’ to giving Dele Alli a longer deal.

Everton ‘open’ to offering Dele Alli new contract

According to reports, Everton is willing to offer midfielder Dele Alli a new deal at Goodison Park this summer.

According to Patrick Boyland of The Athletic, Everton has not ruled out making Dele Alli an offer for a new contract at Goodison Park this summer after he returns to Finch Farm for the last phases of his injury rehabilitation.

Due to Dele’s injury absence from the team following his failed loan move to Besiktas last season, Sean Dyche has not been able to choose Dele during his time on Merseyside.

The midfield player underwent surgery in April 2023 to repair a tendon in his rectus femoris muscle and another procedure in November of the same year for a quadriceps injury. He has not yet made his first appearance of the 2023–2024 season.

Although Dele’s contract with Everton is set to expire at the end of the current campaign, it’s possible that he has been given hope that he will have another opportunity to play in the Premier League.

Everton refusing to rule out Dele contract extension

The midfield player has suffered multiple injuries.
Boyland, writing in The Athletic, claims that Everton is willing to offer Dele a new deal and that he may play again by the summer’s preseason.

Although the 27-year-old is eager to stay in the Premier League, any decision will most likely have to wait until the summer due to the uncertainties surrounding the club’s takeover process.

After courageously discussing his difficult upbringing on The Overlap with Gary Neville in July 2023 and disclosing that he had just completed a stay in treatment for an addiction to sleeping pills, Dele has not only had to cope with injury issues:

“Mentally, I wasn’t feeling well. I made the decision to check myself into a cutting-edge recovery center that treats trauma, mental illness, and addiction. I sensed that it was my turn. I was stuck in a vicious cycle, depending on unhealthy things. I was smiling and willing to show that I was glad every day as I got up, won the fight, and went to training. I needed to change because I was losing the war inside. I could still feel the same emotions I did at the start of the cycle when I was informed I required surgery.”

Dele’s injury setbacks

The Everton player intends to eventually return to the Premier League.
Dele’s recovery from his first tendon injury sustained while playing for Besiktas in April 2023 has been hampered by several obstacles. Before suffering another injury, the former England international was fully trained in preparation for a potential return for Everton in the 2023–2024 campaign. Dele needed surgery in November due to a recurrence of a quad ailment that he had before traveling to Dubai to improve his fitness.

Nonetheless, there is a perception at Everton that the former Tottenham Hotspur player is improving quickly and is ready to reward the confidence placed in him. This week, Dele has returned to Finch Farm to intensify his recuperation, and it’s acknowledged that, considering his recent luck with injuries, he must proceed cautiously.
