McKenna’s next Hirst: Ipswich make enquiry to sign “explosive” Delap rival

It was always going to be difficult for the Tractor Boys to travel to Anfield and overcome the might of the Reds, as the Suffolk underdogs were still in the top-flight drop-zone on goal difference following another crushing loss. Ipswich Town suffered yet another humiliating Premier League loss on Saturday when they traveled to Liverpool, where Arne Slot’s hosts defeated them 4-1.

Now that Ali Al-Hamadi has been loaned to the Championship to give him additional playing time, Kieran McKenna may be hoping to increase his stats at the top.

Even though Liam Delap has demonstrated on a regular basis this season that he is capable of becoming a clinical and explosive striker, he also occasionally has a bad day in front of the goal.

Liam Delap’s recent struggles for Ipswich

Indeed, the former Manchester City attacker has drawn blanks across his last three Ipswich outings, with the standard of opposition arguably not helping his case.

Across the three defeats to Brighton and Hove Albion, Liverpool and Manchester City, Delap has only managed to muster up a weak combined total of 53 touches, with just three efforts registered too as the rest of his teammates also struggled to find the back of the net.

Of course, you would imagine that the 21-year-old will flicker back into life in front of goal sooner rather than later, considering he can boast eight goals from 21 Premier League games away from his current barren patch of form.

But, McKenna will know he cannot rely on just Delap to deliver the goods, and with George Hirst only managing one strike from 11 league games himself as an option in reserve, a new striker prospect could soon arrive through the door to shake up the striker positions.

Ipswich enquire about “explosive” teenager

According to a report by football journalist Graham Bailey, Ipswich is the only bidder reportedly interested in Sheffield United kid Ryan One: interest is starting to heat up.

Other prominent Premier League teams, like Liverpool, Brighton, and Tottenham Hotspur, are reportedly interested in signing the talented 18-year-old, and the Tractor Boys have reportedly made an attempt to sign him. Nevertheless, the prospect of relocating to Suffolk and possibly earning more playing time at Portman Road could pique someone’s interest.
