“I would love to” – Ryan Giles issues Middlesbrough FC transfer claim

Ryan Giles has voiced his desire to convert his loan move from Hull City to Middlesbrough into a permanent one, saying he would “love to” secure a long-term stay at the club.

This statement was made during an interview with BBC Radio Tees following Giles’ side’s 2-1 defeat to Preston North End.

The full-back’s temporary departure from the Humberside club was completed on Thursday evening, when they signed him for the final six months of the season.

Giles previously had a fantastic loan spell with Boro in the 2022-23 season, and he will be trying to replicate some of the success that cemented him in Michael Carrick’s eyes.

The Teesside club is presently sixth in the table, with Bristol City, Blackburn Rovers, and Watford all vying for the play-off spots.

Ryan Giles is aiming to seal a permanent summer move to Middlesbrough.

Giles told BBC Radio Tees after the game that he was delighted to be back to the club for the rest of the season. He stated, “It feels amazing, absolutely amazing.” It was disappointing not to win tonight, but I couldn’t have asked for a better greeting from the supporters.

When asked if Boro had always had a pull for him, Giles replied, “Yes, I believe it is because of the love and support everyone has always shown me.” It does not go unnoticed.

The last three years have been a learning experience for me, but I’ve always felt loved here, and it hasn’t gone away. “When the opportunity was concrete to come back, it was a no-brainer for me.”

Finally, when asked if he wanted to make the “marriage” permanent, the left-back replied, “Of course I do. As I already stated, some situations are beyond my control.

Ryan Giles needs to demonstrate his 2022-23 version to Boro supporters after the tough Hull City tenure.

The left-back position was definitely a need for development at Middlesbrough, and adding Giles to the team will significantly boost Carrick’s options.

Looking back on his 2022-23 season, the defender was a constant threat down the left side, contributing 11 assists and creating 87 opportunities for others around him.

Boro fans will be hoping for a repetition of this form in the near future, and if he can deliver once more, Middlesbrough may try to extend his stay next summer. While the past 18 months have not gone as planned, there is certainly a great player there, and he will most likely start in the Tees-Wear derby next Monday night.
