Leeds can strengthen their grip at the top of the Championship with a narrow win at title rivals Burnley
There is still a long way to go until the Premier League promotion is decided, but the thrilling Championship match
between pacesetters Leeds and Burnley at Turf Moor should provide a huge hint as to which team is more likely to
win the championship.
With just four points separating the top four teams before to the Turf Moor match, Sheffield United and Sunderland
will undoubtedly have an impact on that, but it seems more likely that the two main players that take centre stage on
Monday night will finish first.
Although Burnley scored five goals in last week’s jolly-up at Plymouth, Leeds has scored seven goals in their last
three league games, so on the surface, there should be a few goals in this exciting matchup.
But if you look closer, you’ll see that the Whites have only given up 19 league goals in 28 games this season—an
incredible accomplishment that has been overshadowed by Scott Parker’s incredible Clarets, whose defence has only
allowed four goals at home this season and has only been breached nine times.
Burnley have kept clean sheet in 18 games, including the last six in the league, and have not been beaten in their last
16 in all competitions stretching back to a 1-0 reversal at Millwall at the beginning of November.
Meanwhile, Daniel Farke’s visitors are undefeated in 11 matches since the end of that month and have not allowed
their opponents to score in six of their last eight outings, further underlining the case for goals to be at a premium
when they cross the Pennines.
The draw with Coral and Betfred at 11/5 may also be alluring, but current leaders Leeds have mastered the art of
finishing the job no matter what, and they are the pick at 11/8 with Hills. Burnley looks alluring at 23/10 with
William Hill, Paddy Power, and Betfair to earn the most points required to go top.
Former Fulham attacker Manor Solomon, who is now on loan from Tottenham, is 11/1 to win the match, while Sky
Bet is 5/1 that he will see his name appear on the scoreboard at any time. In his last two games, Solomon has opened
the scoring to lead his team to victories at home against Norwich and Sheffield Wednesday.
Given the anticipated lack of goals, let’s take the 7/4 with Paddy Power that there are less than 1.5 in the game and
the 11/2 with the same company, Hills, Betfair, and SpreadEx on a 1-0 victory on the road.
After losing the decisive set to Madison Key in the Australian Open women’s singles final, Aryna Sabalenka
shattered her racket in fury. It demonstrates her intensely competitive personality and means she missed the
opportunity to become the first player this century to win the title three times in a row. The Belarusian world No. 1
advanced to the French Open semifinals last year, and her strength and determination make her a solid wager to win
the Roland Garros title in the summer on the Paris clay. She is currently 5/1 with Betfred to win.
As the Los Angeles Dodgers bolster their case to win the World Series again, Todd Boehly’s team is rapidly acquiring
outstanding players. In addition to bringing home run slugger Teoscar Hernandez back on a huge contract, they have
already added legendary starting pitcher Blake Snell, Japanese sensation Roki Sasaki, and star closer Tanner Scott to
their team. They have also been linked to more striking transactions and free agent signings.
The Dodgers’ odds of winning the Fall Classic for a second time are dropping more quickly than Boehly’s Chelsea are
out of the Premier League, and they are only 7/2 to win it again this year, according to Sky Bet. Eat up that price now
since it will go down before LA starts.
