Rangers: Philippe Clement delivers early team news v Kilmarnock as Kemar Roofe update emerges.

Philippe Clement has stated that Kemar Roofe will not play against Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday 28 February.

The striker has been working hard to return from a long-term injury, recently appearing for Rangers B as he works towards full health.

Having not been in action for the senior team since December, Clement has been limited with his selections up front, with Danilo and Abdallah Sima also injured.

Speaking to the club’s official X account on Tuesday (27 February), Clement said: “The squad is fine – there have been no further injuries since the weekend but Kemar Roofe will not play – but this creates a chance for another player.”

Kemar Roofe remains out of Rangers team after promising update

Roofe has been a miss for the Gers, especially with Ibrox experiencing a magnificent run of success, boasting 10 games unbeaten since losing to Old Firm rivals Celtic in December.

Clement has been relatively stretched for choices in attack, with Rabbi Matondo the most recent player to enter the injury list this season, with Danilo and Sima being major misses.

Cyriel Dessers has been an outstanding addition to the squad since Clement came at Ibrox in October, with the striker unable to make the desired effect during Michael Beale’s tenure.

The January arrivals of Oscar Cortes and Mohamed Diomande have been much-needed, with the duo hitting the ground running and getting on the scoresheet already.

Rangers show no signs of slowing down and will likely sail past Kilmarnock, and Roofe will have to look on from the sidelines once more, but not for too much longer.

In other Rangers news, Andy Halliday has questioned the John Lundstram contract news.
