Rangers: Chris Jack shares Jack Butland transfer stance as £20m move mooted

Rangers: Chris Jack shares Jack Butland transfer attitude as £20m move touted.

Chris Jack has disclosed that Rangers would likely entertain proposals for Jack Butland in the summer if the price is right, with a £15-20million deal likely to get the job done.

The Rangers Review columnist argued that as brilliant as Butland has been since arriving at Ibrox, every player will have a price tag this summer.

This comes after the club point-blank refused to entertain offers for the goalkeeper in the January transfer window, and rejected any overtures made by Nottingham Forest.

Speaking to The Rangers Review [27 February], Jack shared: “You know when those big moments come around, the game-changing ones and the match-winning ones, you can rely on him to pull off a save in that moment.

“He’s priceless for Rangers. As soon as the interest from Forest became clear early in the transfer window, I checked it out with the club and it was just a case of it’s just not happening. There was no way.

“Ultimately money talks. As impressive as he has been, and as vital to the group as he has been, that doesn’t mean to say he’s going to stay here forever. At some moment, Rangers will have a number in mind. No player is not for sale right now.

“If you can bring someone in on a Bosman and 12 months later let them go for £15-20million or so, that money can go a really long way.”

Will Rangers sell Jack Butland this summer?

As underlined by their refusal to accept offers in January, Butland is an important element of current Rangers club under Philippe Clement, and if they can help it, they will undoubtedly cling on to who has likely been their player of the season this year.

However, as Jack says, certain offers would just be too attractive for the club to turn down, regardless of his importance to the first team, with the option to reinvest incoming monies the key.

It was recently shared how Rangers have fallen far behind Celtic in terms of incoming transfer payments, with Nils Koppen the man predicted to correct that trajectory, and that would mean selling players for significant money.

Butland has been strongly acclaimed for his efforts at Ibrox since coming in the summer and has even been tipped for a return to the England squad, but a £20million offer would be too much for the club to turn down should it happen.

In other Rangers news, Andy Halliday has questioned the John Lundstram contract news.
