Sky sports: Wolves disbelief as ‘Vitor Pereira takes a swing at Cunha before transfer exit’.

Matheus Cunha appears to be leaving Wolves in the January transfer window, based on comments made by manager Vitor Pereira, Michael Dawson, and Paul Merson.

The attacker has been an important player for the team this season as they try to avoid relegation from the Premier League. However, his future at Molineux is unknown, with reports claiming that Arsenal are ready to move for the Brazilian after contract negotiations stagnated. Pereira then chastised the attacker for his body language and claims he did not acknowledge the Wolves fans after their defeat against Chelsea on Monday (20 January) night (BBC Sport). Dawson and Merson anticipate that the attacker will quit the club before the current window shuts due to the manager’s actions in public.

Speaking on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday about Pereira’s comments on Cunha, Dawson stated (12:16pm): “I think it comes down to the price that someone is ready to pay. Earlier in the transfer window, there was a contract for him to sign, but it was not signed. The gossip about him has twisted his mind, which is understandable. “The Wolves will believe that if he is not present, they will be demoted; nevertheless, in my opinion, even with him present, they may still be relegated. Vitor Pereira has come out and said that it is probably not the best thing to do.

“You can say it in-house. And now he’s telling the whole world that he’s obviously not happy, because the speculation, there’s some big football clubs there and he’s going ‘I want away’. Whether it’s right or wrong we’ve seen it before with players. He’s been their main player this year, but I don’t like when managers come out to [criticise].”

Merson himself then added: “Don’t it tell you that he’s leaving in the next couple of weeks? When the manager goes after their best player by a million miles, the only player that can really keep them up, and the manager’s digging him out?

“Surely the manager must think ‘I might as well have a swing at him cus he’s going’. It must be, I mean why would do that?”

Matheus Cunha exit a major blow for Wolves as Arsenal lurk

Football Insider’s Verdict Following these current circumstances, it would not be surprising if Cunha leaves during the January transfer window. The Wolves forward has already responded furiously to a reporter’s suggestion that he did not acknowledge fans at the end of the game at Stamford Bridge. He is unlikely to be pleased that his management has made similar disparaging remarks about him in response to that episode. That may encourage him to look for a move away from the club, especially because his future at Molineux was already questionable.

However, with Wolves still in a relegation battle, the attacker’s talent is undoubtedly critical to any prospects of remaining in the Premier League this season. As a result, there may be some concern among club members about what Pereira’s statements indicate for Cunha. This is especially true after their defeat to Arsenal on Saturday (January 25), which heightened their relegation fears.
