‘It’s People’s lives’: Brentford defender slams Everton points decision

The Brentford defender has spoken out on Everton receiving a reduced point deduction.

Christian Norgaard, the captain of Brentford, has voiced his displeasure with the points deduction procedure, which has cost his team four points this week.

Everton was originally fined for violating profit and sustainability rules (PSR) during the three-year period leading up to 2021–22, but their 10-point penalty was lowered to six points yesterday as a result of their appeal.

Everton has moved up two spots to 15th position as a result, and they now sit five points clear of Luton Town in 18th place. This has also forced Brentford and Nottingham Forest closer to the relegation zone, which is especially crucial given their crushing 4-1 loss to West Ham yesterday night. He expressed his worries about the state of affairs following Brentford’s defeat at the London Stadium.

“I find it difficult to offer commentary on these deductions. Somebody is sitting somewhere using a calculator to add and subtract points. I’m not sure what will be fair when they are interfering with people’s lives and work. We must prioritise ourselves over Everton. As I mentioned, I’m confident that after everything is said and done, we will get better and find ourselves safely in the Premier League.”

Even though Dyche and Everton welcomed the most recent news, there is still worry about the possible second charge that might result in additional penalties. Everton and Nottingham Forest are also awaiting the outcome of the allegations that were made public in January. The case needs to be heard by April 8th, but an appeal might push it out to May 24th, the week after the season ends.

“The club is still processing the Appeal Board’s ruling, but we are happy that our appeal has led to a decrease in the points sanction,” the statement from the club read. The club is still weighing the decision’s broader ramifications and will not be commenting further at this time, save to thank all Evertonians for their unwavering support and patience during this process, as well as our Fan Advisory Board and other fan groups.”
