‘Revelation’: Andy Halliday explains why a Rangers board member won the weekend

Following the team’s thumping of Hearts on Saturday, former Rangers star Andy Halliday singled out a Rangers football board member for appreciation.

The Light Blues dominated the third-best team in the nation at Ibrox, dismissing them as nothing. They were in imperious form against the Jambos.

The three points that Rangers secured during the Scottish Premiership season were undoubtedly the most convincing due to goals from Mohamed Diomande, Oscar Cortes, Fabio Silva, and the returning Cyriel Dessers.

Rangers now lead the title race, but Celtic answered the next day at Fir Park with a thrilling 3-1 victory over Motherwell.

The two Glasgow rivals are still separated by two points going into a crucial midweek matchup: Rangers go to Kilmarnock.

Dundee is hosted by Celtic.

But going into every matchday, there’s no denying that the blue half of Glasgow feels far more confident than the Hoops.

Rangers made some wise purchases in January; Diomande, Cortes, and Silva have all shown success thus far. In sharp contrast, Celtic recruited Nicolas Kuhn and Adam Idah, the former of whom is the only one to have received passing grades thus far.

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Andy Halliday believes that Rangers director of football Nils Koppen’s transfer window transactions could have a significant impact on the outcome of the May championship.

The midfielder for Motherwell believes Koppen, who leads the Ibrox club’s recruitment efforts.

won the weekend as a result of the three January signings from Rangers who scored against Hearts and are already showing themselves to be valuable additions to Philippe Clement’s starting lineup.

Andy Halliday praises Nils Koppen When asked who he thought was the best player from the previous weekend’s Scottish football action, the 32-year-old replied, “I’m going outside the box as well,” on the Gordon Duncan program.

“I intend to visit Nils Koppen. For those who may be unaware, that individual is the Rangers Football Club’s technical director and head of recruitment.
“I think the Rangers’ three January additions could—and I emphasize could—make a big impact in the direction the title goes.

“I believed you seen that in action on Saturday against Hearts. I felt that Oscar Cortes and Mohamed Diomande’s contributions to the starting lineup had been a revelation for the team.

“And it seems like Fabio Silva and Cyriel Dessers are doing a great job of playing the ‘ham and egg’ role, where one plays well, scores a goal, gets rested for the next game, and then plays well again.”
