‘Huge trouble’ – BBC journalist shares immediate reaction to Everton appeal outcome

Everton: BBC Sport journalist makes ‘huge trouble’ claim after points deduction appeal outcome.

Burnley and Sheffield United are in “huge trouble” as a result of Everton’s 10-point deduction being down to six points.

Journalist Simon Stone of BBC Sport claims that once the Toffees filed an appeal, their punishment was lessened.

As a result of the ruling, the Goodison Park team currently has 25 points and is ranked 15th in the Premier League.

According to BBC Sport, Stone stated, “It has a big effect on the bottom of the table because it moves Everton up into 15th spot, above Brentford and leaves Luton four points away from safety.”

More significantly, it puts Sheffield United and Burnley in serious trouble underneath them. But the story is far from over yet.

Everton climb Premier League table after appeal success

The news that the Merseyside team has moved a few spots up the table and, more significantly, farther away from the bottom three will excite everyone associated with the Toffees.

Although the feared Championship relegation is still a possibility, Sean Dyche and his team can take a small solace in the knowledge that things are not as dire as they formerly were.

Nevertheless, they will be devastated by their recent performance, especially their 1-1 tie with Brighton on Saturday, February 24.

Although the Goodison Park team will be aware that they lost a great opportunity to secure a commanding three points, the outcome looks good on paper.

They took the lead at the Amex Stadium thanks to a fantastic strike from Jarrad Branthwaite, and their position improved when Brighton’s Billy Gilmour was sent off.

However, Lewis Dunk’s dramatic last-second equalizer crushed Everton’s hopes and guaranteed that their protracted losing streak would continue.
