Rangers-linked star plays in River Plate v Boca Juniors to prove Old Firm bottle

Rangers-linked Boca Juniors winger Luca Langoni showed he had what it takes to play against Old Firm rivals River Plate in the Superclasico by starting the game off the bench.

Few derbies can compare to the Rangers vs. Celtic matchup in Glasgow in terms of fervor, ferocity, and persistence, but the matchup between these two Buenos Aires clubs is legendary.

Luca Langoni began the game on the bench in the most recent meeting between the two teams, which was played at River Plate’s renovated Estadio Monumental, which has 85k seats and was devoid of any Boca Juniors supporters.

Due to an injury he suffered earlier in the week, the promising 22-year-old Argentine winger—who was linked to Rangers in January—was doubtful for the game.

River Plate vs. Boca Juniors features Luca Langoni.
Due to the injury, Luca Langoni began the game on the sidelines. Rangers supporters who watched the game had to wait until the winger took Edison Cavani’s place in the 66th minute.

Within four minutes of the winger’s introduction, in the 49th minute, Pablo Solari’s opening goal was cancelled out by Christian Medina, and Langoni was on the field when Boca Juniors equalized the score.

Even though the match ended in a 1-1 draw, Rangers supporters can now be certain that the winger will be ready for the match against Celtic, their Old Firm rivals.

The Superclasico is certainly one of football’s most intense matches and Boca Juniors winger Luca Langoni will have done his burgeoning reputation no harm in the draw with River Plate.
