Steven Naismith wants Hearts to inflict Rangers ragdolling on Hibs as boss reveals lessons learned

The Jambos were taught a lesson at Ibrox and now Naismith wants to bring the noise on derby day in the capital.Steven Naismith saw his Hearts side blown away by a rampant Rangers and has now urged his men to do exactly the same to Hibs. The third Edinburgh derby of the season sees Nick Montgomery take his side to Tynecastle in the midst of a battle for a top six place, while the Jambos are looking to get back on track after a first defeat in 13 and slip back into cruise control as they motor towards a third place finish.Many had tipped them to cause Philippe Clement’s side problems at Ibrox, but the capital club were ragdolled, conceding after just over a minute and it was 3-0 and game over by half-time, with the league leaders adding another two goals after the break.

Punters brought the noise in Govan, knowing they could open up a five point gap on Celtic with a win, which their team duly did. Now Naismith wants to see the same ferocious start from his men when the neighbours call round in midweek.”Ideally, we will start Wednesday’s game like Rangers started on Saturday. The crowd were up, lively and noisy, and the players started fast. That’s ideally what we will start like on Wednesday. “I’d imagine our performance will be better, it needs to be better. All the success we have had this season has come from us being good in possession and solid defensively out of possession. That’s where we let ourselves down on Saturday but I’m pretty confident we will be back at it on Wednesday.”

Naismith admits lessons will have been learned from a bruising trip along the M8, but predicts an entirely different sort of test against the Hibees. He told the Edinburgh Evening News: “We expect it to be more like the games we have come up against in the 12-game [unbeaten] run. Our preparation will go into that. Lessons to be learned from Saturday are that giving up good chances to quality players is going to cost you, and that’s what happened.”We will analyse Saturday more for when we are back playing against the Old Firm in Glasgow. There won’t be many games where we need to deal with that atmosphere and how quickly they started because their confidence is high. We will have time to reflect and analyse Saturday, but Wednesday is a totally different game.”
