Rangers have trimmed a seven-point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership to now top the division by two points after a frenetic start to 2024.
After Rangers demolished Hearts 5-0 at Ibrox the emphasis was on Celtic to try and obtain as result against Motherwell at Fir Park.
Scoring two late goals to win the match 3-1, a dismal first-half effort and rising uneasiness has done little to disuade doubters in the Parkhead side’s title credentials.
Speaking after the game, Brendan Rodgers was being interview by BBC Sport writer Jane Lewis about the events of Celtic’s journey to Motherwell.
Once again alluding to negative narratives being set up around his side, the Celtic manager didn’t take well to being pressed to explain on what he meant.
The Parkhead boss then rushed away from the interview before remarking “good girl” to the female journalist in comments which we’ll put down to rising pressure.
Listen to a snippet of the exchange below, with the complete interview accessible on the BBC Sounds website.
As per the messaging of Philippe Clement, Rangers need to just keep doing what they’re doing and focus on what’s occurring at Ibrox.
Whilst of course supporters aren’t able to avoid peeping over the wall at Celtic Park, you can be rest-assured everyone in Govan is taking matters one game at a time.
It’s a mantra which has served Rangers very well in recent weeks and excitement is rising between the fans, management, club, and players.
Rangers have a momentum but big questions loom over Celtic and Brendan Rodgers.
The interview tape is the latest hint that not all is happy over at Lennoxtown and it’s on Rangers to put their foot down until the end of the season.
If the Ibrox side can continue to crank the screw then it might just tell in the future weeks with Celtic under pressure and a few more dropped points away from unravelling.
