Sheffield United is currently planning to acquire a goalscoring defender for £8,500 per week.

According to a recent source, Sheffield United is currently planning a deal for a “clinical” Championship star in order to bolster a priority position.

Blades vying for advancement
After a strong recent run of play, Chris Wilder’s team is doing very well in the Championship as the January transfer window draws to a close. The Blades are well-positioned to make a successful return to the Premier League on their first try, and they are making an effort to take advantage of the situation by making acquisitions that will help them in their promotion campaign.

This month’s primary goal has been to bolster attacking areas, and Wilder has done a fantastic job of that by acting quickly to bring in Ben Brereton Diaz and especially Tom Cannon.

Even though QPR is now only four points out of the playoffs and enjoying a respectable season, if they don’t make a move this winter, they might lose the 26-year-old for nothing in the summer.
Sheffield United is eager to replace the Leicester defender, and they are currently planning a deal for Dunne, despite the fact that Jack Robinson has done well in Souttar’s absence.

Dunne might be the ideal substitute for Souttar.

Since the QPR defender has consistently shown his aerial prowess over the past year, there are indications that he could be a like-for-like replacement for Souttar, who was especially impressive in the air during his time at Bramall Lane.

Statistic per 90 Jimmy Dunne Harry Souttar
Clearances 5.69 (99th percentile) 5.55 (89th percentile)
Aerials won 4.86 (99th percentile) 3.87 (92nd percentile)
Blocks 1.06 (48th percentile) 0.97 (15th percentile)
Interceptions 1.11 (59th percentile) 1.27 (65th percentile)
Tackles 2.22 (66th percentile) 1.12 (34th percentile)

Dunne may be the ideal replacement for the injured Australian because he is exceeding Souttar on practically all important defensive metrics.

In addition, the £8,500-per-week defender, who has four goals this season, is a threat on the offensive end. Journalist Sam Tabuteau praised him as “clinical” at the end of December.
Although the Blades are currently well-positioned to earn promotion to the Premier League, they might still win the game if they buy a top defender, and Dunne is displaying qualities that make him an ideal addition to the team.
