Rangers: BBC pundit wowed by what ‘brilliant’ Oscar Cortes did v Hearts

Oscar Cortes delighted James McFadden against Hearts on Saturday, February 24, when the Colombian scored his first Rangers goal.

The 20-year-old made his second Scottish Premiership start after joining on loan from Lens during the January transfer window, scoring and assisting in the Gers’ 5-0 win at Ibrox.

The former Motherwell striker was impressed with Cortes’ 37th-minute strike, claiming that there was a “temptation” to aggravate the situation.

McFadden told BBC Sportscene on Saturday (24 February) that when the ball comes over, it’s tempting to take a touch and potentially complicate things.

“But he has so much confidence to step on it and pass the ball into the goal. It’s a great goal. It’s quite composed. He’s another January signing who’s having an impact.

The winger is not the only new addition to Philippe Clement’s team that has proven to be an amazing find at Ibrox. Mohamed Diomande has now forced his way into the starting lineup.

The Ivorian netted his second goal in as many games against Hearts, blasting home after only two minutes to send Ibrox berserk. Clement would be faced with a difficult decision if he dropped either player from the starting XI now, as both arrived in January and struck the ground running.

In addition to the two young players, Cyriel Dessers recently scored his second brace in three matches, bringing his total to 12 league goals this season.

Rangers show no signs of slowing down, and after passing Old Firm rivals Celtic at the top of the standings, the Scottish Premiership is theirs to lose.
