777 Partner suffer fresh blow as new £1bn Everton suitors surface.
Everton could be ready to be spared from this 777 Partners catastrophe, as a new consortium has apparently joined the field of play.
In what has been a one-horse race for so many months now, the angst over delay after delay has moved from the Miami-based corporation into the fanbase.
All the latter seek now is stability with which they can refocus a sinking ship, and the Premier League seem unwilling to grant them that on all fronts.
However, with this recent claim, a big financial escape plan could be put in action by a mystery entity reportedly packed with wealth.
The news comes via investigative journalist Philippe Auclair, who writes for Eurosport about what the future of Everton’s ownership might bring.
As someone who has been a vociferous detractor of 777 Partners alongside Paul Brown, it likely was with great joy that he was able to communicate this news.
He writes: ‘The caution of the Premier League may therefore be understandable, especially because a potential new buyer, who claims he is ready to commit a billion, would have manifested himself. Save Everton, certainly, but not at any price.’
It is commonly known that 777 Partners are far from the right group to buy Everton. But, at this point, with an owner that no longer cares and very few buyers desperate to become involved in this financial nightmare, they were just the only alternative.
But the time it has taken the Premier League to approve them speaks much for their capacity as custodians of a football club, unable to supply the necessary paperwork, and certainly without the vast sums needed to smooth the process.
They look highly murky, and with credit ratings reduced and the failure to even pay wages at some of their teams, many have worried how they could be able to take on the load that is the Toffees.
This is a profession that needs extraordinary dedication and tremendous financial backing. It will not be simple to save this club from the edge, but if someone did, there still a club with a promising future ahead.
Perhaps this mysterious buyer could now offer that, with an exorbitant £1bn backing certain to save Everton in their hour of need.
However, they must act swiftly, with it being largely assumed that a judgment in 777 Partners will be made before the end of the month.
