Everton: Youssef Chermiti could be set for new role after what Dominic Calvert-Lewin did.

Youssef Chermiti could soon be set for an increased role at Everton as their senior forwards continue to misfire.

The 19-year-old Portuguese has been limited to just 56 minutes of Premier League football since making his move from Sporting Lisbon in the summer transfer window.

But there is a chance that could change over the coming weeks if Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto continue to struggle in front of goal.

The pair have only managed four Premier League goals between them so far during this campaign, highlighting the Toffees’ struggles in front of goal.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto are struggling for Everton

While Beto would be hoping for a much better return in his first season at the club following his £25.7million move from Udinese, the fact he is still adapting to the league has provided him with some leniency.

That isn’t the case for Calvert-Lewin, though, as frustrations are growing by the week with the forward after he’s now gone 19 games without finding the back of the net.

That simply isn’t good enough for a player of his quality, with the 26-year-old’s poor form leading to the Blues pausing contract talks with him until the end of the season.

It isn’t as though he ins’t getting chances in front of goal, having averaged 2.3 shots per game in the Premier League this season, but only 0.8 of them have been on target per outing [SofaScore].

The England international has missed 12 big chances after scoring just three times for a conversation rate of 6 per cent – a record no striker wants to have next to their name.

Sometimes taking a misfiring forward out of the firing line can help to reignite the fire in a player’s belly, but there is a good chance that Sean Dyche will stick by Calvert-Lewin and continue to hand him starts.

The Everton boss knows he needs his star man to start finding the back of the net soon if his side are to beat the drop this season as they find themselves level on points with third-bottom Luton Town.

Youssef Chermiti could provide something different for Everton

With Beto struggling to back Calvert-Lewin up and make a real challenge to his starting spot, perhaps it could be time to give Chermiti a prolonged run in the side.

Although he’s appeared nine times in the league this season, he hasn’t been given much of an opportunity after just playing 11 minutes since the start of December.

The Portuguese was believed to be an exciting talent when he joined the club in a move worth up to £15million last summer.

There could be little harm in testing whether his youthfulness in an extended run off the bench can mix things up a bit for the Toffees’ offense.

After all, what have they got to lose with their older men continuing to struggle?

It’s time for Dyche to play the dice.

In other Everton news, Jamie Carragher has divulged how many points the Toffees could earn back following their appeal.
