Micah Richards thinks 21-year-old reported Spurs target is ‘going to the very top’

Micah Richards is certain that Jarrad Branthwaite, a player who has been linked to Tottenham, would develop into one of the top defenders in the Premier League in the future.

Although Branthwaite was relatively unknown to Premier League supporters prior to this season, he performed admirably while on loan at PSV Eindhoven last season.

The 21-year-old, who has become a mainstay in Sean Dyche’s backline and is believed to have attracted Tottenham’s attention, is fast becoming one of the best young center-backs in England.

Multiple outlets have reported over the last week that the youngster has emerged as one of Spurs’ top targets for January but Everton are expected to resist any offers for the player next month (Sky Sports).

Football Transfers even reported on Monday that amidst interest from Tottenham, Everton have slapped a £75m price tag on the centre-back as they expect him to become an England regular in the future.

Richards is convinced Branthwaite will be huge star

Richards seems to think that a team would be better off spending a lot of money on Branthwaite since he thinks the young player will undoubtedly succeed at the highest levels.

“Young Branthwaite at the back was amazing,” the expert stated on The Rest is Football. He is going to reach the highest point possible. His decision-making is sound; he quickly assesses the situation and makes the appropriate choices.

Spurs Web Opinion

Although Branthwaite had the qualities to develop into a world-class center back, Tottenham would never break their transfer record to get a player who hasn’t even played a full season of Premier League football.
