Steve Waggott has maintained Blackburn Rovers’ commitment to strengthening his team during the January transfer window.
As we approach the end of the transfer window, the club’s only additions are Dion Sanderson and Adam Forshaw. This month, John Eustace has consistently prioritised attacking reinforcements.
Rovers have a history of failing to recruit appropriately in the New Year, squandering golden opportunities. After a drop in form, which was caused in part by injuries, fans are concerned that it will occur again.
In a statement to BBC Radio Lancashire, the Rovers CEO claimed that the club is working to improve its attacking options, but that every team wants similar players. He also confessed that the team may look elsewhere in the squad due to the recent spate of injuries.
“We all continue to try and improve the squad by securing players during this transfer window who are the right level and who will be a good fit for the current closely knit group of players as John (Eustace) obviously wants to keep intact the togetherness of the squad,” the statement reads.
“The goal has always been to improve the team’s attacking threat, but with injuries incurred before the turn of the year, we are now considering other prospective positions and available choices until our injured players can return to full fitness. Hopefully, some of the injured players will be eligible for selection over the following several weeks.
“As is always the case during this very limited January winter window, most clubs are looking for the same areas of improvement but we will continue to pursue our list of targets in the hope that we can secure players to add strength and depth to this hard-working and honest group of players for the remainder of the season.”
Eustace would prefer at least three more bodies before the 11 p.m. deadline on February 3. His priorities include a number nine, a left winger, and a left back cover.
