Huge fire at east London tower block with 70 firefighters tackling blaze
There are flames streaming from the windows of a burning tower block in east London.
The fire at the residential building in Queens Road West in Plaistow is being tackled by about 70 firefighters and 10
fire engines.
There is a fire in a tenth-floor apartment in a fifteen-story structure, and the apartment’s interior and balcony are
both on fire.
Plaistow Primary School and Children’s Centre, John F. Kennedy School, and St. Mary the Virgin Church are all close
by. It is thought to be situated in a residential block off Queens Road West.
About 30 people have been evacuated from the building. Three men had left the flat before the fire brigade arrived,
and they are being treated by ambulance crews.
A large plume of thick black smoke was pictured rising into the sky.
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) stated that because workers are expected to be on the site throughout morning,
traffic in the area would be affected as they respond.
The first fire engines arrived on the scene shortly after 8am, and there have been over 30 calls reporting the incident.
According to the LFB, the cause of the fire is still unknown, but it was put out at around nine in the morning, and
professional fire investigators are looking into it.
“We were called at 8.09am this morning to reports of a fire in Queens Road West, Plaistow,” a spokesman for the
London Ambulance Service stated.
