Mazi Smith of the Cowboys wants his stuff back!

Ex-Michigan star discovers his college storage unit was sold at auction from TikTok video showing his playbook, sneakers and his GUN SAFE after rent payment ‘fell through cracks’

After his old storage locker in Ann Arbor was sold at auction, Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Mazi Smith is attempting to recoup thousands of dollars worth of his old University of Michigan cleats, sneakers, and other memorabilia.

Attorney Levi G. McCathern II emailed DailyMail.com to say that Mazi Smith was not aware that his personal things had been sold until he received the TikTok video of the individual who had bought the storage unit where they were being kept.

The winning bidder, Vincent Broadway, disclosed the contents of the unit on TikTok on Thursday without mentioning Smith by name. Broadway did, however, note that the person who owned the unit was a former Michigan athlete selected in the first round of the 2023 draft. Furthermore, just one Wolverine was selected out of the first 31 picks in last year’s draft—Smith—according to a cursory examination.

Since then, McCathern has attested to the fact that the apartment actually belonged to his client, stating that the 22-year-old is hoping to reclaim his belongings. Regarding the unpaid rent on the storage container, McCathern said that it was unintentionally overlooked during his client’s move to the NFL.

“It’s evident that Mazi hasn’t stopped moving since being selected last year,” McCathern added. Something went wrong with the payment for this unit throughout the process of switching banks and moving. Mazi clearly wants his belongings back, and we’ll get to work achieving that as soon as possible. We sincerely hope that whoever is in possession of Mazi’s special personal belongings will work with us to ensure their prompt return.

Broadway described the storage unit as “one of the craziest storage units I’ve ever purchased,” suggesting that it is a noteworthy discovery.

Broadway is heard pointing his camera at a towering digital ProVault safe and remarking, “I paid $1,880 for this storage locker, I’m guessing, because most people saw this giant gun safe in the front.”

Holding the shoe up to the camera, he said, “But what I saw was this cleat in the back, and it’s a Michigan Jordan cleat.” The price range for these player-only tweets is between six and seven hundred dollars, and that’s just the beginning of this unit’s potential.

“Every shoe in this collection is essentially a Michigan Wolverine Jordan shoe exclusive to players.” It’s totally crazy, cleats, regular shoes only for players, and training shoes.

Among the shoes were a $1,000 pair of Michigan Jordan Lows and a $800 pair of Travis Scott Jordan 1s.

Broadway reports that the shoes are thought to be worth $20,000.

Smith, a well-known Lego lover, also had a $1,000 Louis Vuitton toiletry bag in addition to crates of the toy blocks packed into multiple containers.

Memorabilia includes numerous pairs of game-used cleats and playbooks from the team’s John Harbaugh era, before the championship-winning coach left for the Los Angeles Chargers earlier this month.

When a renter is overdue on their payments, storage facilities are usually put up for auction. It’s not apparent if Smith owes any money, and if so, how much.

Smith just finished his rookie campaign with the Cowboys, where he had three starts in 2023. In 17 appearances, the Southfield, Michigan native has just one sack.

For those who are worried about a young guy storing a gun safe in a storage unit, it’s important to remember that many hunting aficionados who attend the University of Michigan are required to keep their rifles off campus because the institution forbids guns.

Smith was detained, though, for a crime involving a weapon.

During a routine traffic stop in 2022, Ann Arbor police discovered a concealed handgun in his possession, which resulted in a felony charge.

Later on, he entered a plea of guilty to a lesser offense and stated that he was filing for a Michigan concealed weapon permit.
