5 Rangers training headlines as Roofe’s return has rules attached and masked man ready to face off

Rangers will be furious as brand new UEFA decision emerges at Ibrox.

Rangers fans have rallied around Philippe Clement and his team since the Belgian manager came at Ibrox earlier this season.

Under his leadership, the Light Blues have revolutionized both on and off the field, surpassing Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, winning the Viaplay Cup, and qualifying for the Europa League knockout rounds.

Despite being overshadowed by his past accomplishments, Clement led the Gers to an impressive away win over Real Betis, securing their spot in the round of 16.

Rangers were drawn against Portuguese giants Benfica in the last-16 draw on Friday (23 February), which both players and fans were delighted about.

After the draw, the Gers announced on their official X account (23 February) that the home leg of the game had been rescheduled to a 17:45 kick-off, leaving many supporters disappointed.

The second leg of the tie will be played at Ibrox on Thursday, 14 March, although the kick-off time has been moved forward to cover one of the earlier slots, something Rangers have not experienced in this year’s European campaign.

When will Rangers face Benfica at Ibrox in the Europa League?

While this adjustment will have little impact on Clement and his players, it may prohibit a number of supporters from traveling to Glasgow to watch and support their side at such an early time on a Thursday evening.

Ibrox will be full, like it is on most European nights, but many fans will miss out on seeing their team in a key Europa League quarterfinal match due to the broadcaster and organiser’s decision.

Fans are viewed as consumers rather than supporters in this case. Hopefully, the Gers will go to the quarter-finals, giving fans another chance to see a European night at Ibrox this season.
