Nottingham Forest to announce Chris Wood deal after full agreement – sources
Chris Wood, a striker for Nottingham Forest, has agreed to a new contract with the Premier League high-fliers,
according to sources who spoke to Football Insider. The 33-year-old’s current contract was set to expire at the end of
the 2024–25 season, but Forest will make the announcement within the next day after confirming earlier this week
that Murillo has extended his stay at the City Ground. Wood was able to discuss a pre-contract agreement with
foreign clubs starting on January 1st, but Forest has now secured his future by tying the New Zealand international
to a new contract.
He has hit 14 goals and notched two assists in 22 Premier League appearances in the 2024-25 campaign.
Wood is racing the likes of Mohamed Salah (18 goals), Erling Haaland (17 goals) and Alexander Isak (15 goals) for the English top flight’s Golden Boot award.
He joined Forest from Newcastle in an initial loan in January 2023, which later became a reported £15million permanent switch.
Wood agrees new Nottingham Forest deal after Serie A interest
Since joining the Midlands team, the seasoned striker has scored 30 goals in 65 games in all competitions.
On December 30, Football Insider reported that teams in the Saudi Pro League, AC Milan, and Napoli were keeping an eye on his contract status.
But as they head into a pivotal second half of the 2024–25 season, Forest has taken steps to stave off interest in Wood and ensure his future. Espirito Santo’s team, who play Bournemouth on Saturday, January 25, are currently in third place in the Premier League standings.
