Sheffield Wednesday ‘Given A Deadline’ By Southampton On Deal For Sheffield United Target
Journalist Joe Crann claims that Sheffield Wednesday has been “given a deadline” to reach an agreement with
Southampton for Sheffield United target Shea Charles.
Charles has been hugely impressive during his loan at Hillsborough, but he is expected to be recalled by
Southampton.
Danny Rohl’s team has been “given a deadline” by which they must agree terms with Saints for a new Charles loan.
The midfielder is willing to stay at Sheffield Wednesday, but the clock is ticking for the Owls to make Southampton
an acceptable offer. A number of clubs are interested in loaning him out again, including Wednesday’s local rivals
Sheffield United, but they will want better terms.
The Premier League strugglers want an improved loan fee from the Owls, along with wage contribution terms, in
order to sign off.
Even then Wednesday could have to hold off other clubs, including Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United, but in their
favour is that Charles wants to stay.
Charles played 45 minutes of Sheffield Wednesday’s 2-2 draw with Bristol City in the Championship on Wednesday night.
