Football Lawyer: Why Rangers sensation transfer could be blocked for years amid The Athletic update

Rangers: Alexander Smith transfer could be blocked amid The Athletic update – Football Lawyer.

According to Andrew Visnovsky, Rangers sensation Alexander Smith may be unable to leave Ibrox due to an upgrade.

On Thursday (22 February), The Athletic’s Tom Bogert tweeted that the “highly rated” 15-year-old, an American and Scottish dual-national, is garnering interest from Premier League and MLS clubs.

Visnovsky, a football lawyer, responded to the tweet by stating that the midfielder is unlikely to transfer to a US academy before becoming 18 unless his parents make a non-football-related move. However, he can go to an English team when he reaches 16.

Rangers will want to keep hold of Alexander Smith.

Rangers may be concerned as Smith appears to be attracting interest from clubs outside Scotland.

The teenager is certainly highly regarded at Ibrox, and he is exactly the type of player they like to see move into their first team in the future.

The Gers want to make a more concerted effort to provide a path for their top young players to carve out a successful future at the club.

To achieve long-term success, Glasgow must retain its current players and leverage their success stories to attract new talent.

It appears that nothing can happen to Smith until he reaches the age of 16, but the Light Blues will undoubtedly be discussing how to keep him.
