Aston Villa host Nottingham Forest on Saturday, looking to avoid a fourth home defeat in a row.
On their most recent excursions to the West Midlands, Manchester United, Newcastle United, and Chelsea have all won.
Although they have had some inconsistent results at home, Villa is still in fourth place and recently defeated Fulham 2-1 on the road.
Spurs were surpassed by Unai Emery’s team thanks to the win, as Wolverhampton Wanderers gained three points in North London.
Chris Sutton has offered his opinions in his weekly BBC Sport predictions ahead of the game.
Sutton calls winner of Aston Villa v Nottingham Forest
This weekend, Aston Villa ought to resume their winning ways as Emery attempts to turn around his team’s worrisome home record.
According to Sutton, Villa will be too strong for Nuno Espirito Santo’s team on Saturday afternoon.
“It feels like Nottingham Forest has picked up a bit even though their results haven’t always reflected their improvement,” he added after both of these teams triumphed last weekend.
“Villa’s brilliant home form has dropped off – they have lost their past three games there in all competitions – but that is only a blip.
“Ollie Watkins is back in form and they should return to winning ways on Saturday.”
Must-win game for Aston Villa
This is a must-win game for Villa, irrespective of their recent blip at home.
With Tottenham off the pitch, the host team has an opportunity to solidify their spot in the Champions League spots and put further pressure on Spurs.
Gaining victory over Fulham will boost confidence, especially in light of the defeat to Manchester United. Under Emery, Villa put up a classic away performance in West London.
This may be an exhausting afternoon for Nuno’s team if the home team can play clinically in the first few minutes.
For the match on Saturday, Emery will be without Diego Carlos, Jon Duran, Bobacar Kamara, Ezri Konsa, Tyrone Mings, and Emi Buendia.
Nuno is also dealing with a couple of injury concerns. Striker Taiwo Awoniyi’s fitness is a worry, and Gonzalo Montiel and Chris Wood are ruled out of the trip to Villa Park.
