29-years old striker Gers scouts analysed watches on amid contract exit possibility

’21 Rangers-linked prolific striker set to be free has started just once this year.

Rangers have been connected with various strikers over the years, with Jonson Clarke-Harris among those thought to be considered.

Scouts from Auchenhowie were keeping an eye on the Peterborough United forward, who was considered a backup to Alfredo Morelos by then-Gers manager Steven Gerrard.

Jonson Clarke-Harris, who was formerly valued at £5 million, is now out of contract and will not be able to play in League One.

Ex-Rangers target Jonson Clarke-Harris is fighting for game time.

He will turn 30 in the summer and is unlikely to be pursued by big Championship clubs, such as Rangers.

To make matters worse, he’s only started once this season.

Not exactly the way to attract potential suitors or get one more huge payday.

Clarke-Harris was a 25-goal striker in his prime, the type of finisher that most clubs would love to have on their roster.

Gerrard aims to find a natural replacement for Jermain Defoe, but the £5 million price tag exceeds the value of experienced performers like Cedric Itten and Kemar Roofe.

Surprisingly, teams outside Scotland’s top two have not considered handing JCH a contract.

It would probably be his last chance to play European football and win a trophy.

Consider Hearts as an example.

Jonson Clarke-Harris, like Lawrence Shankland, plays with a goal-oriented approach rather than relying on speed or talent.

Shankland, with only a year on his contract, could still earn a few million for Hearts while being replaced in terms of output for next to nothing.

The Rangers-linked Scotland international is having the best season of his life, but even he admits that scoring from 20-30 yards every other week is not sustainable.

His stock will never rise, unlike Jonson Clarke-Harris, who will most likely wish for Rangers scouts to return to the Weston Homes Stadium.
