A van driver was transported to the hospital with serious injuries after colliding with a police vehicle on the A47 yesterday.
It happened after police responded to complaints of a broken-down vehicle in Terrington St John.
A spokesperson for Norfolk Police said that at around 4.14pm, a vehicle collided with the police car while officers were assisting with its recovery.
Paramedics rushed the van driver to Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital after he sustained critical but non-life-threatening injuries.
“The collision was referred to the Professional Standards Department as is standard procedure,” according to a spokeswoman.
A representative for the East of England Ambulance Service stated: “We were called to a road traffic collision on the A47 near Terrington St John at 5.42pm on Thursday, November 21.”

After being alerted to the incident, police stated that the A47’s westbound carriageway would likely be closed for “several hours”.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area and seek an alternate route until it reopened about 10.20 p.m.
