Sheffield Wednesday striker, Bailey Cadamarteri, will be remaining with Lincoln City for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.
The 19-year-old striker is now the Imps’ top scorer with eight goals in all competitions, so it was strange to see him leave out of the team for the weekend’s game against Northampton Town at Sixfields Stadium, prompting speculation that the Owls may be looking to recall him.
Michael Skubala, on the other hand, has stated that this is not the case, as a groin injury kept him out of action against Northampton – and possibly for a while longer – as they won just 1-0. He explained that Wednesday is pleased with the player’s progress and lauded his work in an Imps shirt thus far.
“He’s staying,” the Lincoln manager revealed. “He’s happy, he’s doing well, he’s our leading scorer, and he’s still growing and developing; he’s been wonderful. Sheffield Wednesday are really pleased with him, but he has a groin problem that we don’t know whether it last a few days or a few weeks, but he’s remaining here, which is fantastic.”
Cadamarteri has appeared 31 times for his loan club this season, starting six League One games in a row prior to the Northampton game, and he’ll be hoping to return to the field as soon as possible as he looks to secure his first double-figure tally of his young career in what will be his first full season as a senior player.
