Staveley hopes to return to football

Despite recent connections to Tottenham, Amanda Staveley says she hopes to return to Premier League football soon.

Earlier this year, Staveley, who accompanied her husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi in mediating the Saudi-led takeover of Newcastle, was reportedly in discussions to acquire a share in Spurs.

She was questioned about her feelings for Newcastle and those connections to Tottenham during her appearance at Bloomberg’s ‘Women, Money & Power’ event in central London.

“First of all, I think all we can do is thank the amazing Newcastle community and the founders for all the support that we had and and continue to get,” said Staveley.

“It’s really difficult to leave an amazing club. We have never been able to move on from Newcastle and never will. However, it is true that we are examining several investing initiatives.

Because of the regulations around it, we are unable to disclose too much at this time. However, we will be able to discuss it, hopefully not too long from now.”

In July, the Reuben family and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) purchased the remaining Newcastle shares that Staveley and Ghodoussi owned.
