Tonight’s Cardiff City transfer news as Robinson quizzed on future and Riza told to make phone call.
Here are the Cardiff City stories that made news on Sunday, January 19. Robinson opens up about the future. Callum Robinson, the Derby Day hero, has stated that he is unsure of the status of his Cardiff contract. If Cardiff wants to stay in this division and advance next season, they will need Robinson’s talent and potency. His contract expires at the end of the season, and after scoring his ninth and tenth goals of the season on Saturday, he is in genuine form. Subscribe to our daily Cardiff City newsletter here. He is one of 12 Cardiff players whose contracts expire at the end of the season. He said he has “loved” his time at the club, but is unaware of discussions happening over his future, with just five months remaining on his contract.
“I dislike becoming involved in that. I’ve always been like this with my agency. I’ve been with my agent since I was 15, and we have a relationship; if anything occurs, he will call me,” he stated. “We’ll see what happens; I don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes, and I don’t like it. He understands how it affects me; he tried it once before when I was at Preston, and I began wobbling! As you can see from my on-field performances, I’m not sure what’s going on; all I can do is keep doing my job and perhaps good things will happen. “I’ve enjoyed my entire stay here. Last year, many asked, “Does he want to be at the club?” I never had an issue with the club or the fans. I scored goals at the start and then had a hamstring injury. Last year, obviously, was not to my standard, but I have loved it here and enjoyed my time here.
“I’m really enjoying football right now. We are where we are because I am an experienced player, and with the talent on the club, we should be higher up in the league. I’ll just keep my head down, score some goals, and hopefully wonderful things will happen.” Bagan: The best game I’ve had in blue shirt Joel Bagan feels the win over Swansea in the South Wales derby was his best game for the club. The left-back came on off the bench early in the game, replacing the injured Callum O’Dowda. The youngster jumped right into the action and delivered an excellent performance.
Bagan, like Robinson, believes the players were particularly eager to do their manager pleased after an emotional few days off the pitch. “We mentioned before the game that we wanted to do it for Riz today. He’s had a difficult few days due to the news he’s received. All of the lads and staff have been there for him, sending him messages and stopping by his office every morning to make sure he’s okay, and everyone’s performance today demonstrates how much it meant to them. “The crowd were wonderful from the start. It’s the best I’ve seen them since I arrived here.It was so loud from minute one, and even when it was 0-0, just hearing them made it so much easier.”
Riza told to phone LMA
Omer Riza has been told to get in touch with the League Managers’ Association (LMA) for advice on how to deal with the fall-out from his red card in the South Wales derby.
Riza was given his marching orders having clashed with Swansea midfielder Goncalo Franco in the second half at Cardiff City Stadium.
The two collided on the sidelines, with Riza entering the field of play to remonstrate with the Portuguese. Former referee Keith Hackett believes Riza could be in trouble for his reaction.
