David Moyes was reappointed on 11 January, two days after Dyche’s dismissal, and followed up a defeat by Aston Villa with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Tottenham at Goodison Park (19 January).
“I think the tipping point with Dyche really was that they hadn’t scored in eight of 10 games, getting closer to the cliff edge,” Darke admitted.
“These new owners have chosen to shoot because they have demonstrated a greater tendency to act impulsively. They’re not timid since they’ve done it with managers like those at Roma as well as Mourinho and De Rossi.
Friedkin Group trigger happy at Everton
With six months of Dyche’s contract left on Merseyside, Everton let him go, and regardless of how this season turns out, it is generally expected that the Toffees will replace him in the summer.
This season, TFG has fired three managers from their sporting empire. Daniele de Rossi and Ivan Juric, who is currently the manager of Southampton, were fired by Roma in the summer.
Early in 2024, Jose Mourinho also left the Stadio Olimpico. In November, Claudio Ranieri took Juric’s place after just 12 games, making him Roma’s fourth head coach in a single year.
