Farhad Moshiri back in the fold at Everton amid uncertainty over 777 Partners takeover

Farhad Moshiri back in the fold at Everton amid uncertainties regarding 777 Partners purchase.

Farhad Moshiri has returned to the behind-the-scenes running of Everton in recent weeks amid uncertainties regarding 777 Partners’ takeover according to Liverpool Echo.

Writing on their website (21 February), the news agency report that the Iranian businessman has returned to the fold “prominently” in recent weeks, but is still unwilling to contribute more of his personal funds to the management of the Toffees.

777 Partners have provided £180m in loans to help with the operational costs of the club since the agreement was signed to buy Moshiri’s interest, but the Premier League are yet to sanction the deal.

“Moshiri, understood to have come back into the fold more prominently behind the scenes in recent weeks, isn’t willing to commit more of his own money to the club, which has meant that 777 Partners have now provided some £180m in loans to the club for working capital since the takeover agreement was first announced,” they wrote.

Everton: Worst nightmare come true?

This is a nightmare for Everton fans at this stage, considering the club celebrated heavily when it was reported Moshiri was effectively gone.

But in the long run it could be the best thing for the club, since it’s evident that there are significant difficulties with 777 Partners and whether or not they’re good owners for the future.

There is unlikely to be an answer that comes from having Moshiri and 777 Partners that makes fans happy, and it may be better to have the devil we know rather than a whole new issue come in fresh.

Ultimately there is a significant problem if Moshiri is back behind the scenes but not prepared to contribute any money to the situation, which demonstrates how crucial it is that the Premier League make a decision about the ownership as early as possible.

The club need to be allowed to plan for the future and know what is actually occurring, but right now they’re just simply in limbo. Fans will be praying for a fresh resolution and quickly, because this isn’t sustainable.
