The Premier League has returned after yet another protracted international break, and on Sunday afternoon, Ipswich Town has the opportunity to dampen Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United celebration before it really gets underway.
But for that to happen, Kieran McKenna’s team will need to be playing at their highest level, but that might not even be required with Liam Delap at the forefront.
This season, the former Manchester City star has been outstanding, scoring six goals and dishing out one assist in 11
league games. Yet, there is always room to improve, and that may well be the club’s thought process, as recent
reports have linked them with another young forward who could be the perfect rival for the Englishman.
Ipswich Town transfer news
According to a recent report from GIVEMESPORT’s Ben Jacobs, Ipswich are one of several sides interested in Vasco da Gama forward Rayan Vitor.
According to the report, Brighton & Hove Albion and Southampton, two Premier League teams, have also inquired about a potential January transfer in addition to the Tractor Boys.
The Brazilian club is willing to sell its potential young player for a price of about £15 million, which isn’t too much in the current market, despite the fact that the competition is far from perfect.
Signing a young player from the other side of the world carries some risk, but considering his youth-level accomplishments and the opinions of those in the know, it would be worthwhile, particularly if he can assist Delap advance as well.
Why Ipswich should sign Rayan Vitor
Alright, let’s get straight to Rayan’s output, which is the primary reason Ipswich should try to sign him in January.
Although the 18-year-old has only scored two goals in 29 league games since moving up to the first team, 20 of those goals came off the bench, and given his age, it’s rather amazing how much experience he’s gaining.
Furthermore, he has been absolutely electrifying while playing against opponents his own age or just a little older.
For instance, the “technically gifted” attacker, as South American football journalist Nathan Joyes has called him, scored an incredible 31 goals in 43 games against U17 and U20 opponents in the 2022 season when he was 15 to 16.
He was naturally chosen to play for Brazil’s U17 team as a result, and in 14 appearances, the explosive attacker scored eight goals and contributed three assists while playing down the middle, off the left, and off the right.
