‘Take the fee’ – Chris Jack names three players who could leave Rangers in summer

Rangers transfer news: Ben Davies, Leon Balogun, and Leon King may depart Ibrox this summer.

Chris Jack claims Ben Davies, Leon Balogun, and Leon King might all depart Rangers this summer in order for the club to reinvest and strengthen its defence.

According to a Rangers Review journalist, considering Davies and King’s lack of playing time, they may be released before a decision on Balogun’s contract is made.

It was stated that if the club is able to recuperate the players’ fees, the funds will be reinvested either to strengthen Connor Goldson and John Souttar in the position or to bring in a solid backup.

In an interview with The Rangers Review on February 21, Jack stated that the management will likely handle this issue in the summer. Ben Davies has featured sparingly under [Philippe] Clement due to fitness difficulties.

“He appears to be one of the men who, come the summer, you’d return the fee, reinvest the salaries, and attempt to strengthen in that position.

“Leon King is down the pecking order; I wouldn’t be surprised if he moved on. Balogun is one of the people up for contract negotiations.

“I think if you went into next season with Goldson and Souttar as your starting centre-halves, you could either add to it and bring in someone better or bring in someone to provide competition there.”

Rangers transfer news comes ahead of the summer.

If the three Rangers defenders are expected to leave this summer, replacements will be required to replace Souttar and Goldson in defence.

Goldson’s position at Ibrox appears solid, with the defense centered on him and James Tavernier.

Souttar, on the other hand, has been a consistent presence alongside his teammates without really reaching the heights, and there is always the risk that one poor performance would result in him being dropped from the team and rotated with Balogun and Davies.

Although center-back has not been a major issue at Ibrox, there is room for improvement, with Harry Souttar from Leicester being one potential candidate.

If Clement decides to transfer the defenders, this position will undoubtedly be one to watch in the summer.
