The Rangers moment that left Champions League star saying ‘wow’ as Celtic rivalry lands ‘crazy’ verdict.

The former Rangers midfielder talked about his year-long stay at Ibrox and the ‘intense’ Old Firm rivalry.

Former Rangers midfielder Malik Tillman recently spoke with The Athletic about his excellent year on loan at the club, including the ‘intense’ experience of playing an Old Firm game.

The 21-year-old joined Rangers on a season-long loan from Bayern Munich last year and was named the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year after scoring 11 goals and providing four assists for the Ibrox club. He has subsequently moved to the Eredivisie with PSV Eindhoven, who presently lead the league by ten points.

Tillman discussed his year in Scotland with The Athletic, including the intense Old Firm rivalry between Celtic and his former club.

“After the first game against Celtic, I recall that we were no longer permitted to have any away fans in the stadium, so it was just the entire crowd against you. If you score, no one will cheer. “It was crazy… completely different,” Tillman explained.

Last year, the German-born American international faced Celtic four times but failed to win due to Rangers’ struggles under Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Michael Beale, resulting in a disappointing second-place finish. However, Tillman remarked that playing in one of the world’s most intense rivalries was unlike anything he had ever done before.

“Wow. “There was a lot of tension,” the midfielder explained. “Unfortunately, we did not win any of them while I was there, but it was an enjoyable experience. “Here, we have a strong rivalry with Feyenoord. In Glasgow, it’s more about other things, like religion, that causes fans to fight and go crazy,” Tillman added.
