Rangers star requests £1.7million to quit club

According to Yakup Cinar, Ridvan Yilmaz reportedly requested £1.7 million to join Galatasaray from Rangers during the January transfer window.

Through a YouTube video on Monday, February 5, the Yeni Acik journalist revealed that the 22-year-old requested the money, which is nearly twice as much as he presently receives at Ibrox.

Rangers were reportedly willing to consider a loan move with an option to buy Yilmaz at the conclusion of the season, despite their stated desire to pay £4.3 million for the player’s permanent transfer. [Terzi Burhan Can]

Rangers benefit from the unsuccessful transfer.

Yilmaz, the full-back, has improved under Philippe Clement and appears to be happy at Ibrox, despite the recent transfer rumors surrounding him.

The player demonstrated his importance to the Gers during the transfer window by scoring a goal against Hibernian and providing an assist against Kilmarnock. There have also been clean sheets in his last three games.

Yilmaz appears to be the team’s choice left back even with Borna Barisic present, and with Jefte’s unsuccessful transfer from Fluminense last month, Yilmaz is more crucial than ever.

It was very evident from Clement that a new full-back was wanted. Yilmaz, though, maintained an unparalleled level of professionalism in the face of skepticism and rumors—even with that news making the newspaper.

If Rangers’ great left-back had departed, they would have been left in a very tough situation because there would have been no real successor for him.The only viable cover would be Dujon Sterling, but he suddenly seems more at ease in the middle of the field.

The Ibrox team now appears to be benefiting from the Turkish defender’s botched transfer to Galatasaray. Come summer, it will be intriguing to see if Clement has changed his mind about adding a new full-back or if Jefte will once more be on the team’s radar.
