Hearts target Sander Kartum as they eye ex-divisional player of the year
The Jambos have already signed defender Jamie McCart from Rotherham, attacker Elton Kabangu on loan from Union Saint-Gilloise, and are in the process of adding Michael Steinwender, another center back, during the January transfer window.
They are also searching for a new winger and are in contact with Danny Armstrong of Kilmarnock and Islam Chesnokov, an international for Kakakhstan, however Armstrong may only be available for the summer due to a pre-contract deal.
The team has been begging for more inventiveness in the middle of the pitch, and manager Neil Critchley wants to see it happen.
Additionally, sources this weekend indicate that they are now considering a center midfielder.
According to rumors in his native country, Sander Kartum, a midfielder from Norway, is expected to join the Hearts in January.
According to reports from Brann and BT-Sporten, the 29-year-old offensive midfielder is “on his way” to Tynecastle.
It seems that the two teams have already reached an agreement on a deal, which might see Steinwender and the former Kristiansund player join this week before a match against Kilmarnock.
Hearts will have to pay a price, but it won’t be too large because Kartum is only committed until the summer of 2026 and is approaching his 30th birthday.
Norwegian midfielder Sander Kartum, 29, is the best player for Brann right now.
He used to play for Stjørdals-Blink and Kristiansund.
According to Bladet, he won player of the season in the Norwegian second division in 2020 while playing for the former.
Brann noticed his continued success in the Eliteserien, where he scored six goals and provided eight assists over two seasons, and he decided to transfer in 2023.
Kartum played a crucial role in the team that finished second, trailing Bodo/Glimt by just three points.
Earlier this season, he played as the Norwegians eliminated St. Mirren from Conference League qualifiers.
