Houston Astros Players Had Encouraging Words After Facing Josh Hader

Houston Astros Players Had Encouraging Words After Facing Josh Hader.

Houston Astros players were full of praise after facing Josh Hader in live at-bats.

The Houston Astros needed to address a key need throughout the offseason as they pursued another World Series title. The Astros needed bullpen help after losing Ryne Stanek, Phil Maton, and Hector Neris to free agency.

Not only did they receive bullpen help, but they did it in the best way possible, signing Josh Hader, probably the finest reliever in baseball. The left-handed closer has probably been the finest in the game over the last several seasons, and he will provide Houston with even more options and dependability in the back of their bullpen.

An 8-9 punch of Ryan Pressly and Hader will seal the deal for an Astros squad that will need to win close games when it counts the most.

Players had nothing but positive things to say about Hader after he threw live batting practice during Spring Training.

Alex Bregman described him as sharp, Jon Singleton discussed how different he was to confront than what he watched on television, and Jeremy Pena’s brief remark tells fans everything they need to know about Hader’s performance.

According to Brian McTaggart of MLB.com, Pena shared the following statement.

“I’m glad he’s on our team,” he explained.

Hader, 29, has five All-Star appearances, three Trevor Hoffman National League Reliever of the Year awards, and a 2.50 lifetime ERA.

During his most recent tenure with the San Diego Padres, he had an impressive 1.28 ERA, 85 strikeouts, and 56 1/3 innings worked.

Everything that has come out of camp seems to be favorable in terms of how the guys in the clubhouse feel about Hader, including Pressly.

Given their roles and the impact they’ll have on the team, it’s critical that they create a positive relationship.
