Green Brigade ask four things of the Celtic support at Paradise

The Green Brigade circulated a pamphlet before Saturday night’s game against Kilmarnock requesting an improvement in the atmosphere at Celtic Park in 2025.

Brendan Rodgers’ team sealed their spot in the Scottish Cup fifth round over the weekend with a hard-fought 2-1 win against a structured Kilmarnock side.

Domestically, Celtic are well on their way to another historic season under Brendan Rodgers, but it doesn’t get more thrilling than Wednesday night’s game with BSC Young Boys knowing a victory assures a knockout playoff round tie in February.

Atmosphere needs improvement

However, there have been murmurings from the management about the Celtic Park environment in recent weeks, and now Celtic’s primary ultras group have thrown gasoline to the fire with a message for all fans moving into this calendar year.

Prior to the match on Saturday a leaflet was given out to fans in the North Curve part of the stadium which said, “as we begin a new year, Celtic maintains a dominant lead in the league while chasing another treble.

However, this supremacy on the pitch is tragically unmatched in the stands, compelling us to make our plea.”

The standing section provided a spark to Celtic Park

“In 2016, Celtic became the first club on these shores to reintroduce standing to top-flight football. The standing section created a thrill to Celtic Park owing to everyone contributing: revolutionising the mood and expanding ultras culture throughout the nation.

As we approach 10 seasons of the standing section, its effect has tragically declined. There are various causes for this, some of which we accept responsibility for as the ultras group running the section.”

The obligation to support the team lays with us all

“However, the responsibility to back the team sits with us all. As ultras, we launched a distinct type of assistance in 2006-one we maintain because we love it and feel it’s beneficial. However, we recognize that this approach isn’t for everyone at all times hence we are beyond the point of demanding 3.000 hands in the air, jumping on the spot, swaying side to side or performing the huddle – despite this being frequent in the early years of the standing section.”

We are therefore simply asking four things of you: Sing, be vocal, back the team, and harass the opposition. Clap along to tunes to produce extra noise. Stay until the squad departs the pitch to express your thanks. Keep your phone in your pocket, enjoy and contribute to the moment.”

“We don’t want to patronise anyone about the importance of backing the team nor eulogise the Celtic atmosphere. However, sluggish, complacent, and spoiled attitudes have affected the support, even on European evenings. While numerous reasons contribute to this, the inevitable reality is that we can do more for our team.”

North Curve Celtic

“In 2016, we introduced North Curve Celtic to bridge the gap between the Green Brigade and other fans in the standing section. This program has been effective, with tangible results such as the murals on the concourse.

“However, NCC has also stagnated, hindered by restrictions and poor engagement from the club. Simply stated, the board does not desire a huge, active fan movement but recognizes it cannot halt the emergence of fan culture.”

First up is Celtic vs Young Boys in the Champions League on Wednesday night and as a support we need to generate the greatest atmosphere of the season to cheer the Bhoys into the next play-off round.

The RB Leipzig atmosphere was tremendous and the finest so far this season but we can top that on Wednesday and play our role in putting Celtic over the line.

So every single Celtic fan at the game, LET’S MAKE SOME NOISE FOR THE BHOYS!
