Newcastle send Aston Villa warning after Champions League ‘pain’

“The suffering you are experiencing right now is fuel for tomorrow. We now have to concentrate on the Premier League and work to ensure that we perform as well as we can there.”

The Magpies were on their way to the round of sixteen in the European football elite club championship on Wednesday night, but they were eliminated as AC Milan overcame a late deficit to win 2-1 at St. James’ Park.

That earned them a spot in the Europa League and put a stop to Newcastle’s season-long engagement on the continent, but a frustrated Howe is hoping to get back to playing soon.

“I think that has to be our focus very quickly,” he stated, adding that he would welcome the chance to do it again. We are limited to looking at it, in my opinion. We still have enough distance in the Premier League to compete and achieve our goal of returning there. I really think that everything happens for a purpose.

Of course there is ambition. We all have it, but it doesn’t imply it will occur. We must put that into action. That has always been my approach: whenever you don’t get what you want, you experience a setback or disappointment, and you have to utilize it as fire.
