B B C Sports: Lewis Dobbin rues City’s attacking work in Blades defeat.
Lewis Dobbin was left disappointed by Norwich City’s attacking decisions in their 2-0 defeat to Championship leaders Sheffield United.
Despite dominating possession and creating multiple favourable chances, City failed to register a single shot on target during the match at Bramall Lane. Sheffield United were significantly more effective in both areas and had the better chances throughout the afternoon, despite City having over 60% possession. Dobbin, who made his Championship debut for Norwich, felt the difference in quality was the difference as he lamented his involvement in City’s lacklustre performance in Yorkshire on Saturday.
“This is disappointing. I felt like we lacked that cutting-edge quality in the final third. Overall, we controlled the game effectively and got off to a good start,” says the Aston Villa loanee. “Once we conceded, we lacked that fighting spirit and cutting edge. It was a game of narrow margins and was quite even throughout, so if we can eliminate the mistakes and find some quality, I believe it will come together shortly. “We were getting into the correct places; it was just that little bit thereafter. I found myself in some nice positions, but whether it was getting the shot off or the correct kind of cross-in,it was just one of those days where it doesn’t quite go for you, and everything is a bit scrappy.
“I’d be a lot more worried if I wasn’t getting in those positions or any service at all. It’s down to me once I get into those positions to make the most of it. I feel like me and a few others didn’t do that today.
“That’s something we will look at to improve.” Dobbin is poised to make a number of starts for City due to Borja Sainz’s ban, and his absence is one of several that have left City’s roster looking threadbare, with six central midfielders, including Marcelino Nunez, also out.

Sheffield United was missing a lot of players, so we can’t really use that as an excuse,” Dobbin said. “I don’t think it has any effect on the belief. We have a good roster and depth. There’s a lot of talent in that locker room, so we know we can win every game if we play our best. “We have enough quality in there to keep going and to keep fighting for points.”
