Sheffield United in hunt to sign Rangers star as contract talks collapse – report

Sheffield United are interested in Rangers star Tom Lawrence, according to the Daily Mail.

On January 18, the site stated that the Blades are among a number of clubs interested in the former Manchester United star, who is out of contract this summer.
According to the source, the Ibrox club has failed to agree on new terms with the 31-year-old, putting Ipswich, Burnley, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Besiktas on alert.

The Norwegian handled Lawrence during his tenure with the Red Devils reserves from 2008 to 2011, and he could sign the former Derby star this month. [IsciHaber]

Lawrence set to leave Rangers

Given that the two sides have been unable to come to a deal, it seems like the veteran will leave Ibrox in the near future.

The only question is whether he will leave the Govan club in January or during the summer.

It makes more sense for the Gers to let Lawrence depart during the winter transfer window so that they may earn a fee than to let him walk away for free.
His tenure at Ibrox has not gone well for either party; he has appeared in only eight Scottish Premiership games, scoring three goals and assisted two, but has not been available enough.

He has not appeared in a league matchday squad since the 2-1 defeat to Aberdeen on October 30.

The Bears have Vaclav Cerny and Ianis Hagi at his position, therefore his departure would not hurt Philippe Clement’s team.

In other Rangers news, Gary Keown reports that Cyriel Dessers has given up at Ibrox following his comments to media.
