Rangers fans swoon over unseen celebration footage after James Tavernier penalty
When Jack Butland joined the Rangers last summer, the fans took to him right away.
The former England international chose to leave Crystal Palace after his contract expired, making him one of Michael Beale’s first acquisitions.
Neither the 30-year-old nor Rangers have turned back since.
This season, he has performed admirably when called upon, having established himself as a reliable goalie both at home and in Europe.
Nottingham Forest made an approach during the winter window, but Rangers turned it down right away
Fans will be happy that Butland is still a member of the team, as they attempt to win the Premiership back from Celtic. The club is now leading the league.
Even though he didn’t play much in Sunday’s 3-0 victory over St Johnstone, the supporters were once again drawn to his composed celebration following James Tavernier’s opening penalty.
A video that the Sky Sports TV cameras missed has been circulated online as Tavernier prepares to take the field in Perth and defeat Philippe Clement’s squad 2-0.
It depicts Butland idly moving around his penalty area while stretching and rolling up his socks. He was facing the play at the beginning of the video, but he chooses to face the stands and ignore the action for the most of it.
While the supporters were going crazy over the captain’s excellent finish, this unreleased video, called “Butlandcam,”
And his response has left supporters speechless. “Not even watching because he knows,” someone commented. What a kind person.”
Someone more commented: “Love how the camera completely avoids the penalty to focus on Butland.”
A third said: “Excellent information. Would undoubtedly rewatch.”
“I can’t watch penalties either,” another person remarked.
The fifth person said it best: “Cool as you like.”
